Zach Welch

Zach Welch is the founder of Mandolin Creek Music and sole proprietor of Mandolin Creek Farm.

Instruments

Zach primarily plays mandolin and guitar, though he can keep up with most jams on banjo, fiddle, and bass. He can teach many more instruments at the beginner level, allowing students to find a clear voice from their instrument and bootstrap their fundamental musical skill.

Approach

Trained in music theory, his approach relies on understanding why music sounds good, not simply relying on developing a good sense of musical taste. He believes that playing scales, arpeggios, and other exercises helps to lay the foundation for building advanced skills of improvisation, composition, and performance. At the same time, he helps students develop a good ear for tonality, harmony, and rhythm.
